| Candace, New York, NY: I received this book from Marie. We used to take a Yoga class together and were always encouraging each other to be active and healthy. I'm excited to share Soaring Spirits with my mom. She's still going strong at 82. The women in the book made me feel like there is a lot of life ahead of me and so much to explore about myself. I'm just getting started!
Marie, Fort Wayne IN: Bethany passed on Soaring Spirits to me and as a runner who's getting older I really appreciate the stories in this book. Bethany and I used to be neighbors and even though we don’t live right down the street from each other anymore we still get together on the weekend to catch up, and take long walks in the park near her house. It’s nice that she thought of me when she read Soaring Spirits and wanted me to read it too. It’s just one more thing for us to talk about.
Bethany, Gary IN: I love my Soaring Spirits book! The photos make me smile and the stories are so inspiring. It's wonderful to know that there are other women out there staying active and exploring the world around them even in their later years. I recently ran a marathon and plan to train for more in the future, especially abroad. I'm looking forward to reading what my friends have to say about the book. I bet they'll say it reminds them of me!

I was raised with six brothers. The boys always wanted me to pitch when we played softball. It took me a while to realize that I was making that ball easier to hit. With ten people in my family our kitchen table was large. In spite of the Depression we managed to purchase four paddles and ping-pong net and balls. We wore that table out; we were an active bunch and life was fun. I’m blessed with many wonderful memories and having fun is the story of my life.
My husband was a linguist and his job allowed us to travel all over the world: Egypt, Kenya, and Romania to name a few. After he passed away I felt that half of me was gone. Not wanting my children to feel responsible for my happiness, I went to China and taught English.
Today I have two Chinese children who call me "Grandma" and if anything should happen to their parents I would be responsible for them. Today sports bring back the memories of my youth while keeping me going physically, mentally and spiritually. —Kay Bowen, Table Tennis, 82
